When you think of an ocean, Earth is probably what comes to mind. But our planet isn’t necessarily the only world with water. NASA notes that moons, dwarf planets and comets can sustain water in various forms, from ice to water vapor. There is a lot of excitement about moons that orbit Jupiter and Saturn, since some of these worlds potentially have water that exists in a liquid state.

Last week I had the opportunity to speak with Melissa Ugelow about her work on Titan, so download this episode and learn about some of the incredible work being done to explore the moons in our outer solar system.

We were inside a hangar, so the acoustics weren’t ideal for a podcast, but it was an awesome place to be. Check out the Wings Over the Rockies museum next time you’re in Colorado. Thursday, Jan. 18, Noon: NASA and partners discuss power for future space exploration. From the National Atomic Testing Museum in Las Vegas, NASA and its partners will discuss a recent experiment involving a new power source that could provide the safe, efficient and plentiful energy needed for future robotic and human space exploration missions. Live streaming audio of the news conference and presentation slides will be available on this page.

Here's the Forbes piece. I didn't have time to address everything in the article, but you can read it here and check it out. Thompson admits he's a bit biased because he's worked for Boeing and Lockheed Martin in the past. The difference between SpaceX and ULA is that ULA and its parent companies have been around since the beginning of the space age, not just 2002 like SpaceX.

A quick update on the timeline for Cassini’s end of mission. At 3:58pm Eastern Daylight Time, Cassini will take the final images with its camera. A short time later, the spacecraft will turn towards Earth, starting a downlink on the Deep Space Network that will last until the end of mission. I will share links to watch the live stream of the end of mission tomorrow morning, so watch Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for that link. I will also post the link here in the show notes.
